Snowboarding and Skiing holidays are relatively expensive because of all the incidentals, lift passes, skis and boots and clothing, food and drink also tending to be expensive up in the mountains. However for those that have not tried it before it is a unique and sometimes magical experience. Being up high in the sun with crisp, crunchy sparkling snow looking down at amazing views of winter landscapes or skiing
down wooded trails the sun slotting through the trees. Sipping hot chocolate or mulled wine (vin chaud or gluhwein, etc etc) after an exhilarating run. These are all experiences you cannot get another way and for many people it brings them back year after year.
In January ski resorts tend to be at their quietest, fewer lift queues, smaller ski school classes, less crowded pistes are the upsides. It also means it is the cheapest time of year to go skiing. The downsides are that weather is less predictable, generally less Sun, and the snow can be be not so good. However although that is possible it is often not the case, you can have plenty of Sun, fine weather and good snow.

City Breaks January holiday Ideas
January can be a really great time to grab a really cheap city break with fares and hotel rates tending to be much lower, for obvious reasons. January holidays in many European destinations offer a different experience to the bustling summer holiday period, with many cities and resorts having a much more low-key nightlife than they would at other times.
- Paris: catch the Eurostar for a quick getaway. Be in central Paris three hours later. Sights to see in January: Les Invalides, Georges Pompadour centre, Louvre (too crowded in Summer), Notre Dame. Montmartre and Sacre Couer lack the interesting bustle in Winter and are best seen at other times.
- Amsterdam: great range of warm museums and other attractions, still pumping nightlife even in January. Accommodation tends to be more expensive as there is shortage of hotels in central Amsterdam. There are Direct flights from most major airports.
- Stockholm: also great range of museums and indoor attractions, but get out in the snow in the parks or visit the surrounding countryside for that clear, crispy crunchy winter feeling. You probably know the downsides, alcohol is expensive in Sweden.

January Winter Sun Activity holidays
India is a good source if holidays ideas for January, and there are lots of different trekking and adventure holidays you can select. Again the style , luxury or sleeping in more native style accommodation is one of personal choice. Sydney plays host to the traditional ferry and colourful tall ship races, whilst surfers ride the waves of the harbour. Cricket matches and outdoor music concerts are played to celebrate this historical event.
