Delayed Flights
Delayed Flights on EU carriers or EU Airports
This section lists the rights of air passengers under EU Regulation 261/2004 when a flight is delayed. It only applies to those passengers flying from an EU airport, or from an airport outside the EU, to an EU airport, on an EU carrier. In addition to your entitlement under EU law, you may also be entitled under the Montreal Convention to any "damages" resulting from any delay to your journey. Please see the AUC advice on the Montreal Convention
The table below shows your entitlement under Regulation (EC) 261/2004 should your flight be delayed.
* If you decide not to travel you are entitled to a refund, within seven days, of the parts of the tickets not used. If it is a connecting flight and you have already made part of the journey and do not want to continue with it, reimbursement of the total price of the ticket (including parts of the journey not made if the flight is no longer serving any purpose in relation to your original travel plan) within seven days and a free flight back to point of departure. You are not entitled (under Regulation (EC) 261/2004) to reimbursement of any other components of your trip such as hotel and transfer costs.
For delays to flights not coming or going from an EU country and not on an EU Carrier should see our page on cancelled flights.
